ABOUT Me
I’m Margaret Bernstein, a Cleveland-based journalist who has won a wide array of awards for my writing and also for my commitment to my community. In 2000, I was named National Big Sister of the Year by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. I'm the 2008 winner of the National Association of Black Journalists’ Community Service Award. During my 10 years as community relations director for WKYC Channel 3, I won 11 Emmys for my outreach work. My first Emmy in 2015 was for my #WeReadHere campaign, which encouraged parents to read every night with their children, and I’ve continued to champion literacy in many ways. My books are tools that strengthen family literacy.
